About Attractions For Coolum

Everything on the Sunshine Coast is conveniently located to Coolum although it is one of the more northern beaches. If you choose to spend your Sunshine Coast vacation in this beautiful, unique region you can still easily take your adventure to neighbouring areas to see the major sites and coastal townships - not that there isn't plenty to do and see in Coolum though. Beyond the beach is sub-tropical rainforest that makes visitors feel like they’re in paradise.

Mount Coolum

The wildlife, unique geological features and spectacular views of the coast are the three main highlights of Mount Coolum and the Mount Coolum National Park. Mount Coolum looms on the horizon throughout much of the Sunshine Coast, but it actually rests in Coolum and visitors can climb the steep path to the top in about twenty minutes. Dotting the mount are wildflowers and some rare plants. Montane heath is a plant community at the summit where very rare plants grow that can only also be found at the summits of the Glass House Mountains to the south. The park’s ecology is very diverse and includes eucalyptus forests, wetlands, wallum and patches of rainforest. An unbelievable 50-percent of all plant life on the Sunshine Coast is found here.

Golf Resorts

Some people make day trips to Coolum from other areas just to play a round of golf. The fairways are delicately manicured and exist in the midst of the natural bushland and several crystalline lakes.

The Boardwalk

Coolum’s boardwalk is a relatively new addition to the seaside village. It provides a nice, short walk that is wheelchair-accessible and illuminated at night. It begins where Beach Road and David Low Way meet then ends at Point Perry and First Bay. It is a great place to observe the other beach-goers and surfers. You can even see whales during their migration season. The boardwalk is essentially a bridge between the natural and the man-made. At one end of the boardwalk you'll find rock pools and secluded beach, while at the other end are cafes, shops and lodging.
